Article Marketing Secrets and SEO Techniques

By Peter Nisbet

You won't find many article marketing secrets being given away online, because very few people properly understand the power of this internet marketing tool. It is more than simply a way of getting links back to your website, but a very powerful tool that if used properly can increase your sales to another level.

If you are provided with 'secrets' then they are well known by almost everybody. I will admit that even the 'secrets' I am about to divulge are not secrets at all, but well known article marketing techniques. However, what I will also say is that the three provided here are neither appreciated nor used by all of those that profess to be marketing 'gurus'.

I know that because I have purchased many of their books and they don't suggest what I suggest: I know my systems work and can prove it through my website listings. However I must stop because I am becoming dangerously close to advertising, but I have done so as to indicate about the maximum you can do on article directories to advertise yourself: and that is your free tip. Do not advertise in your articles if they are intended for submission. Leave that for your 'author's resource box'.

The most common purpose for people writing articles and offering them to directories for publication is to get those all-important back links from the directories. However, just stand back a bit and think why the directories are in existence. It is not for your benefit. It is not to provide you with a free means of improving your Google PageRank, but they exist to make money. And why not? Otherwise there would be no point in anybody offering an article directory to all of these online writers.

You don't pay to have your articles published on the directories, so what is their purpose? How do these people make money? Two ways in fact: the first is by means of AdSense. If you do a search for an article on a specific topic, you will certainly find one because articles have been written on every topic on the planet. On the same page you will find AdSense ads. The reason for this is obvious and also psychological.

It is because most articles are not worth reading, and visitors generally have a quick look at them before leaving the directory site to seek proper information on their topic or niche. That is when they are liable to click on the AdSense ads and make money for the directory owner. That is added to the second way they make money which is from payment for speeding up the listing of the articles. You've seen the thing: get listed in several weeks or pay a few dollars for an instant listing. Like most other serious marketers, I pay.

Whichever means they use, article directories realize that it is to their advantage to get high search engine listings for as many articles as possible. They then have their sites visited by as many people as possible, and also have writers use them. That provides them with more visitors to click the AdSense ads and also as an inducement to other budding authors who might pay for listings. I don't pay for a listing in a site that never displays my articles on Google.

Here are three secrets or tips, that you can use in your own article marketing campaigns:

Secret #1 is that if you write the article on a topic related to the content of a page on your website, then the directory (and by that I mean the owner, but let's call it 'the directory' for simplicity) will do all the SEO work and get your article listed so as to get as many visitors as possible. That earns them money. What that means to you is that you get free SEO done on your article.

Why do you think that your articles have to be of a minimum length and of a certain standard? To be listed by search engines, especially Google, that's why. You can use this information to your advantage, but your articles must be at least 500 words. Your resource URL must be one related to the article, and if you make it your blog, that is even better. Place links on your blog to all your other relevant online ventures.

Secret #2 is not really a secret as a submission technique. When you have finished writing your article save it and submit it as a text file. Most people write using Microsoft word, or some other word processing software that uses their own formating code embedded in the article. You don't see it, but the search engines do and it could harm the listing of the directory web page containing your article.

Secret #3 is that many sites offer two or three links in the author's resource. That allows you not only to present links to two or three pages on your website, but also that these links need not all be from the same site. You could provide a link to a page relating to the article (as you always should), one to one of your other websites or Squidoo lens, and a third to your blog URL. Never ignore these possibilities. Open up your mind.

There are several more article marketing secrets that I could give you but that would render this article far too long. You might also require some elementary HTML instruction to provide you with a working knowledge: HTML, or hyptertext mark-up language, is not really a computer language but a means of linking text to files, and it can also be used to format text, graphics and tables on websites and any other medium that can read HTML and transfer it to the intended visual formating.

However, the above secrets are sufficient allow you to use them as SEO techniques that will improve your chances of a high search engine listing. Learn them and use them, and even if you think that they seem fairly elementary I bet my bottom dollar that nobody is using all of them in their article marketing campaigns, because most people are still thinking in mono as far as article marketing is concerned and have to reach the analogue stereo age let alone digital.

Get modern and look farther than you can see, or the internet kids will soon gobble you up for breakfast! Yesterday's techniques are today's tomorrow.

If you are interested in more of Pete's article marketing secrets, and some of the best are to come, then visit his Squidoo lens at SEOcious or perhaps his blog at My SEO Blog where you will find more about his personal SEO philosophy. Pete suggests them in the above order for some reason. Me? I don't care! I just want more ice cream.

Which Techniques Are Covered In SEO Services?

By Rajeev Guglani

Well, there is short cut for SEO services and there is no magic to push your site to the top of search engine rankings. As the basic attributes of SEO still include the blogs, websites, forums etc and basic steps for search engine optimization still remains the same. Unless and until your web promotion basics are right you can not hope to achieve search engine rankings. So we can have a look at these basic techniques.

Title tag - Title tag us very important. This is the first thing that spiders will crawl for on your web page. This is written on the top of Html code.

Internal Navigation- You must define the proper navigation structures in the website. This is considered beneficial both from user as well as search engine point of view.

Content - Always make your site unique by introducing fresh content in it. Content is still considered as the king and search engines love the fresh content and there should not be any duplicate content in the website.

Clean Coding - The coding in the website should be clean and precise. Search engine spiders do not crawl the code which is junk in nature. Apart form this it is unclean coding is not beneficial to a user if someone want to see the coding of a particular section in website. It will just send the visitors as well as spiders away from the website.

No immediate changes - Do not make fast changes in the website. For example changing the meta tags, content, and navigation structure at the same time may affect the promotion aspect and it may drop the rankings and you will not be able derive what was the main point to the problem. Try one change at a time giving time to search engines to review.

Competition - Always keep track of your competition for keywords and take analysis on what they are doing. See who is linking to them and make your strategy according to that.

Analysis and statistics - Always make analysis of the visitor reports, the unique visitors, the returning visitors and the page loads. This information can be got from certain websites giving track of visitor's status like Google analytics and Statcounters. Make your strategy to increase the visitors on the basis of the analytics and information provided by it.

Domain history - Search engines look at the domain history according to the ranking algorithm. So the domain should be a stable one. Get a dedicated ip address and keep it stable for longer period of time. The more stable domain is always considered as a trusted site.

5 Do-It-Yourself SEO Techniques That Works!

By Melvin Vu

Do you need to spend a bomb to hire self proclaimed gurus to assist you with search engine optimization (SEO)? No! We all know the importance of SEO to our internet business. The following 5 Do-It-Yourself SEO techniques can save you money and yet improve your website’s rankings! The saved monies can then be used to further promote your website through Google’s Adwords, Pay Per Click programs etc. Let’s get started.
1. Take a lot of time with developing your web site's content.
For most web sites, content is the key. When writing the content of your web pages, insert vital keywords which relate to the products and services that your company offers. Make it brief and concise, yet informative.
You might see that Internet users do not actually read a web site's content word-for-word. They just skim through the text and concentrate on the articles that they need and the data which they find interesting. A 600-word article may be too boring or too long for a user to read. Keep your facts up-to-date so that users will visit your web site more often. Do not forget to include a lot of helpful links, articles and guides that users can forward to another user and add to your customer base.
2. Make the overall design user friendly.
In most cases, the rule the simpler, the better applies. Do not design your web site in an overly-complicated way that users will find it too "frightening" to browse through. Adapt the design to your target market. If your target audience is of a younger age, make sure that the colors and designs are funky, youthful and attention-grabbing. For a more mature audience, you can use subdued colors and have a more elegant theme and overall web site design.
3. Vary the keyword for each individual web page.
Think of every possible keywords or phrases that will apply to your products and services. Each user is different and may not necessarily use the keyword that you expect them to type in the search bar. Search engines offer tools which will guide you through finding the correct keywords for search engine optimization.
4. Make sure that your hyper links are visible, accessible and informative.
Providing users with hyperlinks or HTML links which are useful and easy to find is yet another way to optimize your web site.
5. Learn how to lead traffic to your site.
Seek the advice of experts on this field if you do not know how to lead traffic to your site. Develop a plan and learn how to use the necessary tools pull traffic your way.
Gather all the statistical data that you can use to keep your web site on top of the search engines' list. Vary your web site's contents and keywords to adapt to the current trend. If there is a particular word or phrase that you have not used when searching for keywords, use it instead to lead more traffic your way. Be flexible enough to change the web site's contents and fulfill the ever-changing needs of the online users. All in all, you would have your work cut out for you if you want to employ do-it-yourself search engine optimization techniques.
With the proper research, creativity and enough knowledge, you can definitely optimize your web site and yield very promising results for your business.

Introduction to SEO Strategies and Techniques

By Chris Diprose

If you are a webmaster then you might have heard this bantered around quite often and you might have some idea of what it is. If you are not actively involved in your website or have had little exposure to the Internet then you probably have very little understanding of what SEO actually is. Your current knowledge level is not really an issue as SEO is something that very few people have chosen to learn and up skill themselves in. While it is not common knowledge and you are willing to learn there is a competitive edge that you can exploit. It means with some small modifications to your website that you can achieve higher results in search engines than your lesser SEO savvy competitors.
In this article I explain what SEO is and I take you through some of the most important Search Engine Optimisation techniques to help improve your website search engine rankings.
What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?SEO is search engine optimisation. Essentially Search Engine Optimisation is the art of creating or modifying a website to make it search engine friendly. Search engines are the gateway to gaining huge amounts of website traffic. Imagine if you sold Blue Widgets, then placing as number 1 in a search for "Blue Widgets" would gain you far more traffic than placing number 100 - This should be obvious. To gain rankings and places in the search results your website needs to be better search optimised than the websites that are currently showing above yours in the search results. The more search engine friendly that your website is, then the greater the chance that the search engines will rank you more highly. By using certain SEO techniques you will increase your website in the rankings and hence increase your website traffic. This is why SEO is probably the most important thing about having a website - after all, you can have a very good website but what is the point if no one visits it and buys your product?
Search Engine Optimisation TechniquesSEO can be performed site wide but the way we do this is by using the same SEO techniques on each page one at a time. So although it is common to say a website is search engine optimised in fact we mean that each page of the website is search optimised. Okay, so it should be clear now that SEO for your website is vital for your websites success online. Now, the question is how do we start optimising a website? As there are so many SEO techniques that we could implement in this article I take you through the three that are generally considered the most important by SEO experts.
Search Engine Optimization Technique 1: Identifying Keywords and Key phrasesThis step sets the scene for the web page we are about to optimise. We need to do some research using keyword tools, like Google Adwords and Overture Inventory keyword tools. Using these two tools we can input our main term used on the current page we are trying to optimise. We should record the results from these and then order by search volume. We then weed out any irrelevant terms and are left with a list of highly searched and highly relevant terms to this page.
Search Engine Optimization Technique 2: TitlesIt is common opinion among SEO professionals that the Title of a webpage is THE single most important SEO aspect of a webpage. The title of the webpage is the first thing a search engine views and tries to interpret. It is vital to ensure that the title is unique across your whole website and that it is highly related and relevant to the content of the webpage. We like to use between 4-10 words in the title tag and we always use the leftward rule. Leftward rule is where the most important words are closer to the left. In this case, the most highly searched on terms we identified in SEO technique 1.
Search Engine Optimization Technique 3: Duplicating Web Page Content Often websites reproduce information that is copied from other websites. This is a very bad thing to do and search engines are so smart now that they check to duplicated content both within the same website and across all websites pages within their index. It is very important to ensure your website has unique content across the whole Internet. You can write unique articles or howto's or you can find someone who will write unique content for you. If you currently find that a lot of your pages are listed in the supplemental index on Google then making sure the titles, descriptions, meta keywords and all of your on page content is unique is how you would pull them out of the supplemental index.
This brings us to the end of the Introduction to Search Engine Optimisation. Having covered a few of the basics of SEO you should be well on track to having a few of your web pages optimised.

Internet Traffic and SEO Techniques

By Roberto Sedycias

You might be wandering the reasons your web site is not getting much internet traffic. After all your web site took lots of financial and human resources, but unfortunately like so many web sites, it is quite unknown and as a result it does not get enough internet traffic to make it financially viable.
Did you know that about 80 percent of all web site traffic originates from search engines? Yes, it is true! Listing near the top page of search engines and obtaining the attention of your target audience should be a main priority for any web site internet promotion.
And the good news about this is that improving a web site position in search engine pages may be done for free. How? Using search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.
There many ways to promote a web site. Some promotions are paid and some are free. Among the free ones, the search engine optimization techniques enables web sites to become search engine friendly. In other words, it makes website pages to accept the search engine crawler in a friendly way. These techniques will be some of the steps one will have to use to obtain a better position in search engine’s pages, when searching for specific keywords, related to services or products offered by a web site.
Search engine optimization steps for a web page:
Title:
The html Title tag is a very important element and must include the most important keywords or phrases, which best represent the products or services offered by the web page. It should not contain more than 60 characters.
Keywords:
The html meta Keyword tag should have all the keyword phrases which best represents the products or services offered by the web page. Avoid repeating keywords and bad use of capital letters. It should not contain more than 250 characters.
Description:
The html meta Description tag is a description of the web page, which will be displayed by the search engine. Make sure it contains keywords phrases. Avoid repeating keywords and bad use of capital letters. It should not contain more than 200 characters.
Keywords in Headings:
Keywords in Headings tags (h1) will be interpreted by search engines as being an important keyword relevant to the web page, and it should be looked for and indexed by the search engines.
Web page text:
It is a good practice to include informative text one every page, using natural language and appropriate keywords. It should contain more than 200 words. Informative text should be placed in the html Body section of the web page.
Keywords in Alt Tags:
Every html picture “img” tag should contain an ALT tag with an appropriate description. Keywords should always be used when appropriate.
Keywords in Anchor Tags:
Every html hypertext link “a href “ should contain a TITLE tag with an appropriate description. Keywords should always be used when appropriate.
Robots.txt file:
Make sure there is a robots.txt file in you web site directory. This is a text file created by the webmaster, which will guide the search engine´s crawler when indexing a web site.
There are some cases in which one might not want to have some web pages indexed. This way thru the use of robots.txt, one will have control over which pages will be indexed and made available to the search engines.
User-agent: *Disallow: /tmp/Disallow: /data/
HTML code validation:
Search engine’s crawlers become more efficient when indexing web pages with no html errors. Beware that some html errors can make search engine crawlers to give up indexing web pages. So it is recommended for those web pages to be indexed, there should be no html errors.
Links:
Links are very important to search engines. The quality of links and whether it is reciprocal or not, are important factors in evaluating the importance of a web page. Links from web sites with higher page ranks are a plus.
Registering with Directories and Search Engines:
It is very important the registration of a website with directories and search engine web sites. It is a way of telling the world that your web site exists. Avoid using automatic search engine/directory registration.
Search engine optimization has become a very important set of procedures which helps web sites to become more relevant to search engines. To obtain an increase in internet traffic will take some time. It probably will take some kind of additional promotion too. But anybody in need of higher internet traffic, free search engine optimization might be considered his first option.

SEO Techniques to Generate Free Traffic

By Jordan Lesiuk

1. The title tag is one of the most important elements of SEO, there is no point naming your page yellow banana if it is about a Edc Gold home based business. The title tag needs to relate to the page and the content on it, the more targeted the title is to your page the higher the chance of receiving targeted visitors.
The title tag should have key words within it but also be readable by a human, treat it like a headline.
2. When linking between pages try and use the same anchor text from one page to another. If you are trying to rank high for the keyword Edc Gold, then try and use this keyword as anchor text when linking between pages.
3. Make sure that the text within the title tag is also within the body of the page. It is unwise to have keywords in the title tag which are not contained within the body of the page.
Also add the same text for your h1 tag which is kind of like an internal title tag and the search engine robots look at this and can now tell that there is a relation between the title of your page and the headline.
You should also sprinkle the keyword throughout the page. Bolding the keyword's you are targeting is also recommended if possible. A good place to do this is within the headings.
4. One mistake that people can make is using the same title tag for all of their webpage's, don't do this as some spiders might think it is duplicate content and might not index the other pages.
5. The meta tags can be of some importance but try not to spam the tags with keywords as you can be penalized for this. SEO pros all agree that these tags are not as important today as they once were. I just place my headline once within the keywords and description tags.
6. Do not use doorway pages. Doorway pages are designed for robots only, not humans. Search engines like to index human friendly pages which contain content which is relevant to the search.
7. Site Map: A good menu system is really a site map. A well constructed menu system that is on each page and contains a link to very page on the website is all you need.
8. Title tags for text links. Insert the title tag within the HTML of your text link to add weight to the link and the page where the link resides. This is like the alt tag for images.
My site contains navigation menus on the left and right of the page. The menu consists of links not images. When you hover over the link with your mouse, the title of the link appears. View the source of this page to see how to add this tag to your links.
9. Describe your images with the use of the alt tag. This will help search engines that index images to find your pages and will also help readers who use text only web browsers
10. Submit to the search engines yourself. Do not use a submission service or submission software. Doing so could get your site penalized or even banned.
Here is the submission page for google: http://www.google.com/addurl.html
Submit only once. There is no need to submit every two weeks. There is no need to submit more than one page. Robots follow links. If your site has a nice link trail, your entire site will get indexed.
My site has a nice human friendly link trail which robots follow easily. All my pages get indexed without ever submitting more than the main index page once.

SEO Techniques for a New Website

By Gijo George

Search Engine optimization plays an integral part in marketing a website. SEO Activities are gaining more and more importance every day. It helps a website to come in the top position during the search process. A good Search Engine optimizer can promote a website quickly to the top position in the search engine and thereby increase traffic and business from that website.
Keywords are considered as the core of Search Engine Optimization. By using proper keywords which are relevant to the content that are appearing in a website, you can give your website a powerful support as far as Search Engine optimization is concerned. Relevant keywords appearing in the content and as Meta tags help Search Engine to index the website faster and it enables them to relate the website with a more appropriate category.
Building Links from other high-ranking websites helps a website to gain maximum visibility. The number of inbound links to a website shows how popular the website is. The links from the homepage of a website is more powerful than originating from an ordinary links page of that website. Usually homepage ranks more than a links page of the same website.
Give special attention to your homepage of the website. As this is the first page of a website visited by the Search Engines, give maximum content rich in keywords on this page. All the other pages should be properly linked from the homepage. The total design and layout of the website should do justification to the main content of the website. In other words, design and the content should go shoulder to shoulder as far as possible.

Guidelines For Ethical SEO Techniques

By Melvin Vu

Hundreds and thousands of people have made use of the Internet in a variety of ways, each in an attempt to subjugate its great power and potential to give profit and gain to users and businessmen. However, alongside the aims of these hardworking innovators and entrepreneurs are people who simply want to extort as much money from people in exchange for dubious products and services.
Web content is brought to a potential user by means of either direct recall of a particular service provider’s website, or by blind searches done on various Internet search engine platforms made available by Internet software giants. By entering words, known as ‘keywords’ relevant to the desired information, product, or service, into the search field, users can employ these blind searches to look for content closest to what they are looking for.
As is the practice, a search engine usually produces a list of websites matching the keywords provided by the user to a degree of relevance. These are ranked by relevance, quality of content, and sometimes, ‘visitor votes’ that come in the form of a measure of frequency of visits by people who usually find the content useful to them.
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is a method used by many businesses and entrepreneurs online in order to maximize the potential of the search engine by helping them rise in the ranks of the query response listings. SEO usually deals with organic searches, or those that need no payment to be listed among the list of likely matches to a client’s keywords, as well as crawler search engines, which are search engines that literally crawl through web pages in search of relevant links and relations between pages in order to find relevant content.
Dubious figures in the Internet, however, have made use of the Internet to forward their own selfish desires, leading to an unethical use of the brilliant SEO model. This has led to a divergent field of SEO, called “black hat SEO”. In this method, various deceptive schemes are used in order to manipulate search engines and dupe customers by providing them with websites that are completely useless. This method is also called “spamdexing”.
Ethical SEO techniques also exist in the Internet. Before even going into details, the most important ideal behind ethical SEO techniques is in providing better service to clients, and allowing this satisfaction to become key in promoting the website.
What does it take for a method to become an ethical SEO technique? There are various ways under the central guideline to achieve them.
1.) Quality Content
Creating quality content for the users in paramount. After all, no ethical SEO technique tries to get the better of any customer, or even harm them to the slightest extent. By providing quality content, users receive useful, timely, and secured information when they need it.
In order for that to be achieved, no amount of exaggeration or manipulation of the nature and content of the website is done to lead customers into believing that it contains the website relevant to their query. Ethical SEO does not employ any method that will mislead the customer into a site, and even offend the customer once he or she has found his or her way into the website.
2) Law Abiding
Ethical SEO techniques do not, in any way, violate any laws as regards intellectual property rights, international law, or spamming laws implemented at every level of every way. This would include not claiming for their own products and services that are not theirs to sell or produce just so they can fool users into providing sensitive information through which they can extort money.
3) True Impressions
A website employing ethical SEO techniques will never try to exaggerate and reflect a company’s image any more than how it should be portrayed; doing so, in effect, manipulates the customer into trusting a company based on falsity.
4) Level of Protection
Relevant to various security issues existent on the Internet, one last measure of how ethical a SEO technique is lies in the protection of its customers on the basis of privacy agreements. In providing the service sought by the client, ethical SEO techniques protect the confidentiality and sensitivity of the information made known to them in confidence by their clients.
Both goals aim to achieve the same end of profit. However, the road diverges and one must pick one over the other. In the end, ethical SEO techniques allow for users to maximize the profit they pay without impinging on the rights of other people an manipulating others; this by far is the best option to go.

The 5 Most Dangerous SEO Techniques

By Perkins Troy

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the means by which an Internet marketer goes about getting a web site noticed on the search engines in the top 10, or top 5 or even as number 1. The trick is to place keywords strategically within a web site, blog or other means by which search engines will find you. There are acceptable and unacceptable ways of using this marketing technique.
1. Embedding Invisible Keywords:
This is by far one of the oldest tricks in the book of Internet marketing. You use the text that is the same color as your site background. It’s done so that you can increase the instances of a search word and inflate the relevance. A variation to the technique is to make the font too small to read and inject it at the bottom of the page. It used to affect design layout but with DHTML now being used, the keywords can be hidden in the invisible layer of the code so you generate hits on the keywords without ruining your design. This method defeats the purpose of real content and simply annoys the users of your site.
2. Keyword Repetition:
An irregular and unnatural repeating of keywords is used to create a high relevance to that particular keyword in search engines. When creating content, it is expected to use a keyword naturally. Site owners have gone far and above natural word usage by using the META tags to list the word obsessively. This hinders your site, since directory owners look for this sort of thing and if you actually have content, readability of it is lost.
3. Irrelevant Keywords:
The knowledge that certain terms are very popular is a no-brainer. Web site owners can conduct a search of keywords and their overall usage in search engines. They will then find the top keywords used and use other SEO techniques to manipulate them. The result is that you have content and keywords completely irrelevant to the site as a whole. Like putting the word “sex” somewhere on a site having to do with cheese graters.
4. Cloaking and/or Redirect Pages:
We’ve all been there. When looking for something specific and upon finding the site we want, it quickly vanishes and we wind up some place we didn’t want to be. Redirected, without our permission, to something completely different. With scripting, this can be done automatically. The old school version is click on a link that redirects you to another page. Unfortunately it is common practice among your less scrupulous web-site owners for them to create a page for users and one for web site spiders. Clicking on links can cause you to move to this page instead of the one you wanted, so the rankings can be optimized.
5. Link Farms:
This tactic is also known as having a link page or link directory. It involves having a page that is nothing but a series of links that has no bearing on the content of the site itself. Web site owners use them to artificially boost their link backs and thus, their popularity. Rankings will rise on the search engines. A lot of link farms are automated while other site owners use a page of reciprocal links. Search engines are beginning to scan web sites for patterns in mass linking.
There are many ways to generate top spots on the search engines without having to resort to the sleazy tactics described above. Doing so will simply decrease your credibility and while you may wind up with higher spots in the engines, you won’t see much in the way of sales or memberships.

Critical On-Page SEO Techniques

By Christopher Shireman

I can not tell you how many times people have come to me asking why they are not getting listed highly in the search engines, or even listed at all. They actually think that just by putting a website on the internet that everyone in the world will be able to find their site and buy all their stuff. If things were that simple, you wouldn't be reading this.

In order to rank highly in search engines, there are several things that you need to do. The first is on-page optimization, which is what is being discussed here. This is the way that search engines view your website, and rank it against all the other websites that are out there based on the content of the website. There is also off-page optimization, which is a huge factor in determining how your website is ranked in the search engines.

You can think of on-page optimization like the tie breaker for websites. If there are two websites that cover the same topic with the same amount of off-page optimization, the one with the better on-page optimization will get a higher ranking than the one with poor on-page optimization. With thousands of websites out there try to get the number one spot for their keywords, you need to make sure that you have as big of an advantage as possible.

What goes into on-page SEO? You will first have to decide which keywords you are targeting. This can be done in many different ways depending on what kind of site you are running. Let's say that you are building an Adsense website, just to keep things simple. You have chosen the most profitable keywords that you can find and you are ready to start building your site.

The first thing you need to do is put your keywords in the title of your webpage. If you are targeting two or three keywords for a page, you will need to put all of them in the title. You still need to be careful, if you do this the wrong way the search engines can penalize you. Here is an example of some of the keywords that I used for one of my sites where Real Estate was my primary keyword.

Real Estate Investment
Real Estate Course
Realtor Guide

Here is the wrong way to put these keywords in the title

Real Estate Investment and Real Estate Course and Realtor Guide.

This is too long, repeats the words "Real Estate", and uses the very un-useful word "and", at least where titles are concerned. Here is a better way to build a title for a page with these target keywords

Real Estate Investment Course | Realtor Guide

Notice what I have done here. I have combined two of the keywords together into one, which is fine because search engines will actually read both of these words separately and categorize them as "almost" the same words. I also got rid of the word "and" as a way of joining the words together. This saves space and still allows you to include multiple keywords in the title. Search engines do not like long titles that just have keywords in them. It is a big problem that a lot of people think will help them climb the search engine ranking, but what actually happens is their site gets banned from the search engine all together, so don't try it.

The next thing that you need to consider for on-page SEO purposes is the use of H1 and H2 tags in the code. You can think of H1 (header 1) tags as the titles of the webpages and the H2 tags as the subtitles. Whenever possible the H1 tags contain the keywords you are optimizing for. Your secondary keywords should be in the H2 tags. Search engines will give more importance to the keywords that it finds in these tags, and I highly recommend their use. Don't go crazy and try to put 100 keywords in the H1 tags, it will only get you in trouble.

When you are writing your article for your website, or if you have downloaded an article, try to make sure that the keywords you are optimizing for are repeated in the main body of the article several times. Don't go overboard here, just make it sound like the words should be there naturally. You should also be using the bold and italic options on a few of the keywords in the article. Again, don't format every instance of these words, just a few times will make the search engines very happy.

Another trick that I like to use for on-page optimization is image alt tags. You should definitely have images in your website, and these images should have alt tags, or alternate text for text based browsers. The content of these alt tags should be your keywords, but you should only be using one keyword per image. Trying to include too many keywords in an image alt tag is just asking for trouble. If you are really clever you can name your images things like "real_estate_investment_img1.jpg". This gets your keyword onto the page in a way that search engines will not find suspisous, but that they will still count for your benefit.

SEO Techniques That Work

By Steve Hill

I have no doubt that most people who own a website on the internet have heard of SEO, which stands for search engine optimisation. Knowing about it is one thing, understanding it however is a whole different ball game. A lot of these people simply do not have the time to learn about the ins and outs of SEO and instead look to a third party to deal with this for them. Unfortunately there is an awful lot of misplaced advice given from people trying to make a quick buck and in this article I am going to write about SEO tactics that do work.
The first bit of advice that I think is important to state, is to be aware when so so called SEO experts state they can get you onto the first page of Google's natural listings within say two months. Firstly enquire as to whether this is Google dot com or Google dot co dot uk. It is more difficult to gain high placements on Google dot com for obvious reasons but this is where you eventually want to be. The SEO expert may well be able to gain this top ten or top twenty ranking for your site but may well use techniques that could end up in your website being banned for ever. Tactics such as hidden pages or cloaking are some of the favourite of these web promotion cheats.
In SEO as in most areas of life, hard work pays off. What we all need to do is to attract visitors to our sites and the best way to do this is to have other webmasters to add a link to your site on their site. This is not that easy but is where this hard work comes into play. Communication is a big part of learning about SEO and gaining these links. I personally love to speak to other webmasters about their experiences and am always cheeky to ask if they will put a link to my site on theirs.
These are the ways I like to promote my own websites, article marketing, talking to other webmasters and learning from their experiences, and also by ensuring that the content of the sites is of value which will by itself encourage other people to link to the sites.

Importance of Genuine SEO Techniques

By Lenin Nair

There are some methods of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) you should follow for your website. SEO is very important for all websites out there in the WWW. Without SEO techniques, which are genuine, you cannot get your website to be known, and get any profit from it.
Content is King: Every search engine, Google included, looks for only the content. Content is the most important thing to rank high in search engines. Without content, your site is just another site, without much importance. So create good genuine content.
Build links: Building links is utmost important just as content. For this, there are several methods. One such method is writing to the related Webmasters and letting them know of your site's existence. If they believe that your site has some content, which is linkable, they will definitely link to your content. Maybe some reciprocal linking is required. In that case, you can negotiate with the webmaster and ask them about the reciprocal.
No one can guarantee number one in search engines: Google is the most important search engine out there, and even Google top employees cannot guarantee your number one position in Google search. It is the result of your hard work and genuine SEO link building that will position you at the top of the search results. Otherwise, you cannot just get to the top of any search engines.
Link building yourself is better than consulting: You may promote your blog with genuine SEO, and that will rank your site higher than any SEO firm can do. So, it is extremely important that you do it yourself. Set apart some time in your daily schedule to build links with any niche blogs you know of. Also, ask your friends who have blogs themselves in the same subject to link into your site.
Do not trust blackhat SEO firms: Blackhat SEO techniques are those, which do not do genuine SEO but go by such methods as doorway pages, invisible text, keyword stuffing, etc. SEO should be done through Whitehat methods only. Otherwise, you may be permanently banned by search engines.
Do not do reckless link buildings: if your blog is two days old and has 1200 incoming links, then Google will ban you on the third day. So, reckless link building is equal to link spamming. Do not do that.
These and more of the techniques to do good SEO are available in the resources mentioned below. SEO is a very important technique to get your site to the top of search engines, thereby building your brand, getting sales, and profit. So, genuine natural SEO technique is extremely important for the success of a website.

Black Hat SEO Techniques

If you work in the SEO industry, it is likely you have encountered black hat SEO methods. For those who perform black hat techniques to manipulate the search engines, the ends justify the means. While most webmasters work hard and struggle to get their sites at the top of the search engines, webmasters who use black hat techniques sit back and relax. It is not uncommon for these webmasters to make $100,000 within three months.
This is the reason why using black hat seo is so appealing. This is also the reason why spammers practice their craft. They do it becaues it works. When you send out a million emails, there is a mathematical probability that you will generate a certain number of responses. Because of this, it is easy to see what motivates those who practice black hat SEO methods. The search engines are forced to constantly change their tactics to fight against these webmasters. If companies like Google didn't take the time to make changes to their algorithms, many webmasters would never be able to get their sites to the top of the search engines.
If you are a webmaster who uses white hat techniques to optimize your site, it can be annoying to see websites rank higher than yours which use black hat techniques. At the same time, it is important to remember that these websites give you a chance to succeed. Most webmasters who use black hat techniques must rely on automated tools to help them. Honest webmasters have to put in a bit of elbow grease. This is where we succeed and those who use black hat techniques fail. Sooner or later, companies like Google will win. At some point in the future, search engines will be governed by strong artificial intelligence. Once this happens, the number of webmasters using black hat technique will be eliminated, or greatly reduced.
It is likely that webmasters who use black hat techniques will never completely vanish. The reason for this is because they are humans who have brains. There will always be someone out there who is clever enough to trick the search engines, no matter how advance they are. As of this time, those of us who use white hat SEO techniques can be content in knowing that the black hatters are making things easier for us.

Flash SEO Techniques

By Stu Billingsley

Currently, most flash content cannot be seen by search engines (and when it is seen, is seen to only a limited extent). This is because the search engine robots see a file within the overall page source code and cannot see the structure of the navigation within it. It may be able to dig some text content out of it, but for the most part, even the text content is read as just graphics, and cannot be indexed.
The best way to create a search engine friendly version of your flash content (and to still show the content) is to use SiFR, or Scalable Inman Flash Replacement. This is preferred to standard noscript tags and redirects, plus the usage of this has been approved by Google on their blog.
How SiFR works with Flash -
First of all, lets assume you've embedded flash within the overall page, as opposed to just making one big flash page first of all. Otherwise you may have to revisit the step of integrating flash into html first. Otherwise when a standard html page that happens to contain flash is reached, a JavaScript function is run which first checks that Flash is there, looking for whatever tags you have designated for it.
If the user does not have flash installed, or if JavaScript is turned off (the latter being the case with search engine spiders) the HTML page displays as normal (without the flash content) and nothing further occurs. If Flash is installed, and JavaScript turned off however, the browser views the source code of your page looking for SiFR elements. After this, the script creates Flash movies of the same dimensions and displays them on top of the original location. This can be tested in Mozilla Firefox via the use of an addon.
Visit Evolution Search Marketing for more tips on Flash SEO and other optimization methods.
Flash can be a great addition to a website, and can work with a well optimized website if done right and not overused. Find out how evolution search marketing can maximize the visibility of your flash content by dropping us a line.

Easy Techniques to SEO

By Sean R Mize

If there is one truth about search engine optimization that one would not dare to contest is the fact that Search Engines are the ones creating the visibility of any web site to the net users and to the Internet as a whole. When one wants to make their web sites gain accessibility to search engines like MSN and Google, then they have to make sure that they are getting an optimized search engine. There are a few tricks one can use to achieve this.
1. Make sure that you optimize the use of the site title. The title of the site is usually the first thing that search engines and net user look into. In fact, when a search term is used with a search engine, the search engine looks for that similar term if there is similar presence on your site either on the body context or on the title itself.
2. Make sure that you make good contents. Web sites are known to be sources of information. People go to the net primarily due to relevant and fresh information that they can dig. It is of essence that you contain your website only to relevant and up to date information so that people may see your site a worth while site to be visited.
3. Build links on your site. Search engines see attached links on a site as indications of a site being a well-visited site. In fact, the more site links a site has, the more it would be seen by search engines as an essential site on the net, thus will be given a priority in ranking and indexing.

Yahoo SEO Techniques

By Matt Jackson

Different Search Engine Means Different Algorithm
All search engines have their own algorithms to determine the value and, therefore, positioning of websites. While the majority of SEO work tends to concentrate on Google because of the sheer weight of searches they receive it would be foolish to discount or ignore the other major search engines. Yahoo is considered one of the big three along with Google and MSN and by concentrating a little more time and effort on Yahoo optimization it is quite possible to gain a good amount of traffic. With ultra competitive keywords it may actually provide an easier way to generate search traffic than gearing all your efforts solely towards Google.
The Most Important Yahoo Optimization Factor
The first, and most pertinent point is that Yahoo judges content to be the most important factor in their algorithms. They do still consider inbound links and other factors but they are attuned to the way of the content site and they love sites that provide keyword-optimized content in large mass. While that may make it sound easier than concentrating on generating a huge base of inbound links as you would for Google, Yahoo optimization presents its own challenges and its own unique quirks that you should consider.
Looking At Keyword Density
Because of the relevance that Yahoo places on the content within your site, the keyword once again becomes a vitally important aspect of your research. While Google have been striving to promote sites that use organic content and webmasters and SEOs have been optimizing with around 2% to 3% keyword density Yahoo prefers a much greater density level. The danger, of course, is that giving Yahoo what they want may cause Google to deem your content as being keyword stuffed but there is another difference between the two algorithms that can help to counteract this problem.
Using Stems, Inflexions, And Variants Of Keywords
Yahoo is very heavily language based. This means that it is, strictly speaking, more aware of the nuances of the written language. It will include synonyms and inflexions of a keyword when considering your keyword density; something that Google does not consider to the same extent. This means that it is possible to optimize for both without diminishing your ranking with one another.
How To Optimize For Yahoo Without Getting Penalized By Google
Google likes a density of around 2% and Yahoo likes a density as high as 7% or even 8%. This means that you can effectively use 4 variations of a single keyword or phrase and a density of 2% for each. This offers further advantages. With Google you are now gearing your content towards four different keywords and offering the level they want, and you are still providing Yahoo with the much higher density rate that they require. Because you can include plurals and further stems of keywords this means you can write in a much more natural tone.
Using The Near Forgotten Meta Tags
One area that a lot of SEO professionals and webmasters alike now tend to overlook is the Meta tag. However, Yahoo appears to still give consideration to the keyword and description tags in particular. This is quite rare in the case of most search engines and Google certainly do not look for keywords in your Meta tags. Do not attempt to dupe Yahoo, though, and only include keywords that genuinely appear on your page and are relevant to your topic.
Regular, Fresh Content Is King
You’ve probably heard the saying that “content is king” and this is even truer when considering Yahoo optimization. The more content you provide the better. This may mean making regular additions to your site but it will generate the kind of results you are looking for. Blogs are also a very good way to continue adding relevant content to your site that Yahoo will smile down on.
The Lazy Yahoo Bot
Compared to other search engine spiders the Yahoo bot is a comparatively lazy animal. It doesn’t crawl as often as other bots and it certainly doesn’t crawl as deep into your site to find all of your pages and index them. This means you should pay extra attention to creating a legible sitemap and keeping it updated as regularly as possible. Yahoo has a sitemap submission feature that is similar to Google’s and using this is heavily recommended to try and ensure that Yahoo stays on top of the infrastructure of your site and ranks you accordingly.
Inbound Links And Controlling Them Yourself
Inbound links are still important to Yahoo, but again a lot of emphasis is placed on content. Textual relevance seems to be one of the most important factors so having control over your inbound links and being able to determine the pages where they appear and the anchor text of each is important. Perhaps the best way to generate inbound links for Yahoo optimization is to use the article directories to your benefit.
Yahoo Optimization Conclusion
Google may be the search engine that everyone talks about and optimizes for but ignoring Yahoo would be foolish. This is especially true because while the Yahoo algorithm is quite different to the Google one and other algorithms, it is still quite easy to optimize for both. The most important factors to remember are to use relevant Meta tags for every single page of your site, include as much content and update your site with new content as often as possible, and update a sitemap both on your website and with the Yahoo sitemaps function.

Cheap SEO Techniques

By James Roy Celeste

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is probably one of the hottest means to draw traffic towards your website. If you are a marketer, maximizing your website to conform to the proper SEO techniques will lead you to a more profitable marketing campaign. However, as we all know, SEO is not a cheap act and the basic knowledge in this area will save you thousands of dollars. Honestly, SEO is not all-expensive way of promoting your site. There are ways where you can get cheap SEO approach on the internet. I have included few of them in this article.
Link Exchanges
Link exchanges are considered one of the cheapest methods in SEO. This can be done by contacting a website owner and have your website address posted on his and vice versa. Sometimes, this act will not even cost you at all while others require you to pay for the link. You should also be aware of who’s who are you linking to. If you have a totally unrelated niches or themes, this would severely damage your reputation on the search engines eyes.
Using Articles To Promote Your Site
Creating fresh, informative and keyword-rich articles to promote your business is a surefire effort. Submission of these articles to article directories will not only give you a one-way link but also provide you with the much-needed traffic. Put your website address on the author’s by-line on every article you submitted. If your articles are worth reading, people will have the chance to see your by-line and will have the greater chance of clicking them for more information. If your articles are boring and uninteresting, they simply click another link to find better information, thereby leaving your by-line unnoticed.
Attention-getting Domain Name
Although these days, short domain names may have already been taken, you can still find and register domain names that your visitors can easily remember them. It is advisable that you register a name that best describes your overall campaign, product or service. Be creative.
Navigating Around Your Site
Do you feel disappointed if you visited a website with less conspicuous navigational system? A good web design should incorporate a vivid and easy way for visitors to roam around your site. Certainly, this is another way to keep them from exiting.
There are still other methods of employing low cost SEO techniques. Without SEO, no website will be found on the top rankings of the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo! Therefore, even if you are not capable of paying for SEO optimizers, do it on your way by employing the free methods mentioned above.

MSN SEO Techniques

By Matt Jackson

One of the most common preconceptions with SEO is that if you optimize a site for the benefit of Google then you will rank well with other search engines. However, the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) all use different algorithms that demand different things. Google has a mixed bag but certainly leans towards inbound links whereas Yahoo loves keyword dense content sites. This leaves us with MSN, whose primary consideration when determining their search results seems to be heavily based on internal linking structure and inbound links. But these are far from the only SEO techniques you need to consider.
MSN The Meta Search Engine
MSN Search is a meta search engine. Whereas Google openly ignores your meta tags in the majority of cases MSN blatantly uses them to index your pages and discover your keywords. At the very least you need to include the “keywords”, “description”, and “title” meta tags. Your main keywords should be included in all of these with your primary keyword appearing first in the “keywords” meta tag. All tags must include the keywords you consider the most important to your site.
Also, because MSN uses the meta tags, you should be careful not to spam them with numerous instances of your keyword or the use of incorrect or inaccurate keywords. At present, meta spamming doesn’t seem to be an issue with the MSNbot but it is only a matter of time and when the change occurs you won’t receive any warning before your site is penalized.
Page Layout And Code
The coding of a page is always an issue with search engines and, therefore, should be important to you as well. If a crawler can’t crawl your site then you are unlikely to be indexed and you certainly won’t receive the high ranking you want. Keep the amount of HTML or any other programming language on your page down to an absolute minimum and ensure that page sizes are below 150KB at the very most.
Another slightly contentious issue is the use of tables. Again, this leads us back to a crawling problem. MSN does not condemn the use of tables on the whole. However, the MSNbot does not like to see tables within tables within tables. This can be a problem if you don’t use CSS and rely on tables to keep your page neat. Including another table in the layout of your page begins to make things look messy from the point of view of the MSNbot.
Keyword Density
Keyword density is an area of SEO that always causes arguments. No search engine openly publishes their requirements in this area but it is widely accepted that while Google has stringent rules in place that require minimal use of keywords both Yahoo and MSN have a much greater tolerance for higher levels. Google prefers only a 2% to 3% density while MSN and Yahoo allow 5% to 6%, possibly even a little higher.
Of course this raises the problem that optimizing for MSN may have you flagged as spam with Google. Fortunately, MSN and Yahoo, both take keyword stemming and keyword variants into account when doing their calculations. Use keyword plurals and stems, and try to ensure that you don’t go above the Google ideal of 2% for each of these variants. Also, it is absolutely imperative that your SEO writing does not prevent you from writing copy that is appealing to human visitors.
Website Infrastructure And SEO
Your website infrastructure is important to MSN. Many sites, my own included, have shown excellent results in MSN based on the internal text links and associated anchor text. Try to use the primary keyword for a page as its title and ensure that you use this keyword in all of your navigation bars on your site. This will have a very positive influence on the MSNbot.
Also, as with all search engines, MSN wants to be able to reach every page of your site quickly and easily. Text links are best for navigation and all pages should be reached within three clicks from your home page. If you use graphical navigation bars then you should consider either changing them to text links or including a sitemap that is one click away from your homepage.
Inbound Link Importance
Inbound links count as votes for your website. The more votes you get from sites the better, but moreover the more influential the sites that provide a link to you the greater your search engine results. In all honesty, MSN currently appear to favor the quantity of links over the quality but search engine algorithms are renowned for evolving so try to plan ahead and get relevant links from popular pages. The most important aspect of any individual inbound link is the anchor text. You must get webmasters to use your primary keyword for the page that the link points to as the anchor text.
MSN SEO Conclusion
MSN Search is gaining a little ground on its major competitor, Google. Microsoft is unlikely to sit back and be happy with only taking a small share of the market so optimizing for MSN in order to ensure that you get beneficial results from their search engine is a very good idea. It is possible to optimize pages and content for all of the major search engines if done properly and carefully.

Effective SEO Techniques

By Tom Ross

You might have the greatest looking website in the world and provide the best content ever but, unless you can be found in the internet, whatever effort and cost you put into the look of your website will still amount to nothing.
In order for your website to become something of a celebrity in the world of the internet, you have to follow a few solid and effective SEO techniques. SEO means Search Engine Optimization, something you will need to do in order to promote your website in the internet.
Among the many effective SEO techniques you can find, there is nothing simpler than using the “title” attribute in your web page. While this is often very basic, this is sometimes overlooked. This is one of the places that search engines look into when indexing your website.
In your “title” attribute, be sure to use the proper keywords. It is important that you use words that are not common search terms in the internet. A good idea in finding some unique search terms is to make an Adwords search on the search terms you are considering. Another effective SEO technique is to use different titles for each page of your website.
Two effective SEO techniques that you would want to make sure of is using the <h1>tag and mirroring the contents of your title into it. The <h1>tag is very useful for optimizing your web site for search engines, especially with the Google search engine. Mirroring the title text in your <h1>tag helps to emphasize the description you give to each page. This will be easily picked up on by search engines when looking through your website.
In many effective SEO techniques employed by SEO professionals, one of the most emphasized is the site map. A site map is a page of your web page which lays out your entire web page and links to every page in your site. By placing this strategically in your homepage, you can help the search engine to crawl around your pages more efficiently and effectively.
These and a whole lot of effective SEO techniques are readily available in many sites online. While most of these techniques will require some doing and others might run counter to your personal vision for your webpage, you should consider employing these techniques if you want an effective website. These effective SEO techniques, when followed properly, can greatly help in establishing your web presence in the internet.
